Taipei is the capital of the Republic of China, otherwise known as Taiwan. Taipei is the largest city in Taiwan and serves as the island's financial and governmental center. Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (previously known as Chiang Kai Shek Airport)

All flights to Taipei will arrive at Taoyuan International Airport. The airport is located about 30 km from downtown Taipei. In order to get to the city, there are many freeway bus shuttle services, picking up and dropping off passengers at most of the five star hotels. There are also buses which stops at the Taipei Main Station and the domestic airport (Songshan Airport), which is located in downtown Taipei. There are also bus services connecting the airport to nearby cities and Taichung in central Taiwan. Travelers to other destinations need to change transportation in Taipei.

Express airport buses will cost you around NT$120 and NT$150 depending on the bus company, and there are stops at both terminals. There are however some non-express buses which are slightly cheaper, but will pass through towns such as Taoyuan, Nankan or Kueishan before arriving in Taipei. It is also easy to get to the High Speed Rail station from the airport. There is a bus that runs approximately every 15 minutes from the airport to the Taoyuan High Speed Rail station.

Day 03 Taichung-Taipei

Democracy Memorial Hall, formerly known as CKS Memorial Hall, was a magnificent building constructed in the memory of the former president, Mr Chiang Kai-Shek. Next shopping at the Pearl Showroom. The images and achievements of soldiers who gave their life for the country are worshipped at Maryr's Shrine. You also get to see the elaborate guard- changing ceremony (subject to schedule). DAY 1: SINGAPORE KAOHSIUNG

Your vacation begins with a pleasant flight from Singapore Changi Airport to Kaohsiung, the second largest city in Taiwan. And enjoy a fun time of shopping and tasting local delight at LEO He Night Market.



DAY 2: KAOHSIUNG-PINDONG

After breakfast, we will visit Spring & Autumn Pvilions, where you can see the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas and Xuan Tian Shangdi Temple. Next, we will proceed to Pingdong for Eluanbi. It is known for its coral gardens and big lighthouse said to be the brightest lighthouse, Asia. Follow by Maopito (Cat's Nose Cape), a cape that spokes into the Bashi (Bashi) Channel in a jumble of exposed coral-rock formations. Tonight, we will overnight in Kenting. When night fall, it become the busiest street with all types of arts & Crafts stores, fashions stores, Seafood Restaurants, Pubs, local foods stores, coffee house all around, also well know as "Pattaya inThailand".

DAY 3: PINDONG -TAINAN

Morning, we will depart Anping Old Street. You can see ancient buildings built during Ducth time. We will have our "Tainan Specialty" lunch here. After Lunch, we will proceed to Chingu for it famous Salt Mountain. Which has a brown, sandy crust the other part of it are snow white. You can climb to the top for excellent views over the pancake-flat countryside, or you can also try to sled down its flanks. You can also try famous Salty Ice-Cream here at your own expresses. Follow by WuShulin Relational Park. You will take a 50mins train ride to go round the park. Also you can visit the one of the most impressive insect ecology centers museums. After which, we will proceed to Gauntleting for the famous Black Hot Spring. Relax your body and mind in this black hot spring that's contains subterranean mud, minerals, salt, (Note: Passenger is advised to bring their swimwear & Cap.)



DAY 4: TAINAN-NANTOU-TAICHUNG

After breakfast, we will visit JiJi Train Station, built by the Japanese and made out of wood (unusual for building in Taiwan) and was heavily damaged during the great quake. The station has now been restored to its original state and now is also able to withstand a huge quake. Follow by Wuchang Temple, is dedicated to the worship of Xuantien Shangdi that collapsed during the 921 earthquake, however, the miracles appeared, three statues of the god, unharmed. Which after, we will head towards Sun Moon Lake, the mirror-like calm water, the light of waves and different morning and evening scenery all year round, poetic and picturesque. You will also visit the Wen Wu Temple. Follow by Taichung famous Sun Cakes (Tai Yang Bing) Diy bakery class. Using century-old baking skill, flaky pastry is rolled into multiple layers and formed into the shape of a butter-colored UN. After which, proceed to Feng Jia Night Market to the shop for the low priced clothes or try delicious local snacks.



DAY 5: TAICHUNG-HSINCHU-TAIPEI

Morning, we will proceed to Hsin Chu for Leo Foo Village Theme Park. The large Theme and Safari Village, with four different theme areas, which you can find real excitement ride in here. Follow by Wufenpu Fashion Street. A Fashion district which it constitute of more than 1000 shops selling various types of fashion. Tonight, we will go to Raohe Night Market, with all Stores line in the streets, selling famous sweet Taiwan sausages and delicious seafood etc…

DAY 6: TAIPEI

This morning, we will proceed to Shen Ken Tafu Street where you can find the variety of Tafu delights. Follow by Yeliu, and view the most spectacular and famous result of erosion here are those named Queen's Head Rock, Fairy Shoe, and Candlestick Rock. Next, we will head towards Chuifen, filming site of "Sad City", where you can also try some famous local dish such as Taro and Sweet Patato Ball. Yangmingshan Xiaoyoukeng Volcanic: Strongly acidic hot springs and sulfur gas rising through the Xiiaoyoukeng fault have eroded the extrusive rock and caused it to turn crumbly and collapse, resulting in the landscape we see today. DAY 7: TAIPEI

In the morning, visit National Museum of Taiwan's Democracy (C.K.S Memorial Hall); overlooking the landscape garden, graceful pavilion and placid ponds witness the elaborate and graceful changing of guards' ceremony at Martyr' Shrine. Next we shall move on to Xi Men Ding, a shopping area, where you can check out Taiwan's latest fashion and trendy clothing's. Next move on to Tamsui Old street, will reward your gastronomic desires, you must try the famous "Grandma's iron egg". Follow by Fishermen Wharf.

Day 8: SINGAPORE

After breakfast, transfer to the Airport for your flight back to Singapore.

There are four transportation options at the airport: bus, high speed rail, taxi, and pre-arranged sedan. An MRT line is under constuction, but it will not be completed until February, 2011. Here are the options from cheapest to most expensive forms of transportation:

Express airport buses cost between NT$120 and NT$150 depending on the bus company, and there are stops at both terminals. Most Taipei routes are divided into West and East, with each company operating a service every ten to fifteen minutes on each route. The western line bus terminates at Taipei Main Railway Station and also makes a stop at Yuanshan MRT Station on the Xindian line (NB: The Airbus company buses on the western line meander through local towns before joining the freeway and therefore take much longer than the blue and white Guoguang buses which enter the freeway directly). Buses plying the eastern route terminate at the Taipei Grand Hyatt Hotel and make a stop at Zhongxiao-Fuxing MRT Station on the Nangang and Muzha lines. There is also a bus connecting to the domestic Songshan Airport. Ticket counters display route maps showing all stops.

In addition, there are some non-express buses which are slightly cheaper, but pass through towns such as Taoyuan (桃園), Nankan (南崁) or Kueishan (龜山) before arriving in Taipei.

When returning to the airport, express buses can be caught at various stops throughout the city. One major one is accessible via Exit 9 at the underground mall beneath Zhongxiao West Road (in front of Taipei Main Railway Station) or Exit 5 if you are coming out of the Taipei Main Station MRT. Another is at the terminal at the Songshan Domestic Airport (松山機場). Other stops are outside major hotels and also in front of Minsheng MRT Station. For people taking early morning flights, the earliest available buses to the airport leave at around 4AM from the Far Eastern Plaza Hotel (台北遠東國際大飯店) (201 Dunhua South Rd Section 2).

It is also easy to get to the High Speed Rail station from the airport. There is a bus that runs approximately every 15 minutes from the airport to the Taoyuan High Speed Rail station. From there, you can catch one of the HSR trains to Taipei Main Station (where it is easy to take a taxi or MRT to your final destination). The bus is NT$30 and the train is NT$160.

A one-way taxi fare between the airport and Taipei will cost at the minimum NT$900 (generally NT$1000-$1200 from the airport). In Taipei, don't make the mistake of asking a taxi driver to take you to the Taipei airport (Songshan) if you actually mean Taiwan Taoyuan Airport. The international airport is actually about an hour's drive from Taipei, while Songshan is in downtown Taipei.

A one-way pre-arranged sedan fare between the airport and Taipei will cost at the minimum NT$1300-$1500. Generally these sedans are pre-arranged through your hotel and the sedan company or driver will meet you as soon as you exit baggage claim. Since the price is not much more than taking a taxi, it is usually recommended that you ask your hotel if they offer this service. This is a more comfortable half-hour ride to the hotel.

Direct bus connections between the airport and other cities in Taiwan are also available. U-bus also runs shuttle buses every 15 min from both terminals to THSR Taoyuan station (15 min away), from where you can continue your journey by high-speed train.

Songshan Airport

Songshan Airport (松山機場) at the top end of Dunhua North Rd is the city's domestic airport, and there are flights arriving and departing for all major cities on the island and the outlying islands every minute. It also serves flights to mainland China. The airport is served by the Metro Brown Line and can be reached in about 20 minutes from the main railway station.

By train

All inter-city trains (http://www.railway.gov.tw/en/index/index.aspx), including those operated by the Taiwan High Speed Rail (台灣高鐵) (http://www.thsrc.com.tw/en/index.htm), arrive at and depart from Taipei Railway Station (台北車站) (http://www.panoramio.com/photo/593200) on Zhongxiao West Road, Sec 1 - opposite the 53 story Shinkong Mitsukoshi Building (新光三越). (http://www.panoramio.com/photo/592036) Taipei Main Station is a huge facility. Ticket counters are on the first floor and platforms in B1. There is also a food court on the second floor, several underground shopping malls, an auditorium on the 5th floor, and MRT stations serving three lines. In addition to ticket counters, the first floor also has a tourist office, small supermarkets, a post office, stores selling aboriginal handicrafts and several booths offering head and neck and full body massage (NT$100 for every ten minutes).

By bus

Private and government intercity buses arrive and depart from the Taipei Bus Terminal (also called Taipei Intercity Bus Terminal). The terminal is a few minutes walk to the west of Taipei Railway Station (to the left and behind the station when facing the building from Zhongxiao West Road). A convenient way to reach the terminal is via the underground 'Taipei Shopping Mall' (located at the rear/north side of the station) - '4 South (南)' is the nearest exit to the terminal. NB: For refreshments or snacks, the terminal only has convenience stores; for fresh drinks, passengers will need to go to the underground 'Taipei Shopping Mall' where there is a juice bar near exit '4 North (北)' (directly across from the exit for the terminal) and a coffee shop near exit '10 North (北)' Generally speaking, the buses operated by private companies are more comfortable and sport such amenities as wide reclining seats and individual game and video monitors. The government run buses are blue and white and are calledguoguang hao (國光號). All intercity buses are known as keyun and can be distinguished from the local city buses calledgongche (公車) by the fact that they do not have a route number, but only the name of the destination.

Itinerary Day 1 ARRIVAL Upon arrival at Chiang Kai-Shek International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your accommodation hotel. The remainder of the day will be free. Hotel: Golden China Hotel (3*) or similar Day 2 TAIPEI CITY / KEELUNG / YEHLIU / TAIPEI CITY (Breakfast Included) After breakfast, we proceed to Keelung to visit Chung Ching Park where you can view the huge statue of the Goddess of Mercy and also a panoramic view of Keelung Harbor. Then we continue to Yehliu famed for its numerous rock formations resembling a Queen’s head, Fairy Shoe and Lover’s Rock. Return to Taipei around 12 noon for lunch. Afternoon tour of Taipei City, which includes the impressive C.K.S. Memorial Hall, National Palace Museum where 5,000 years of Chinese Imperial arts and jade collections are exhibited, Martyrs’ Shrine of traditional architecture and Taipei Handicraft Center. Hotel: Golden China Hotel (3*) or similar Day 3 TAIPEI / SUN MOON LAKE / PULI / TAICHUNG (Breakfast Included) Morning tour will take you to Sun Moon Lake, situated 762 meters above sea level in the lofty mountains of Central Taiwan, visiting the famous Wen Wu Temple or Literature Warrior Temple dedicated to Confucius as Master of Pen and to Kuan Ti as Master of Sword, Holy Monk Shrine. Then proceed to Puli, visit the cultural & artistic heaven. In the evening, group will transfer to Taichung for overnight stay. Hotel: Plaza International, Taichung (4*) or similar Day 4 TAICHUNG / LUKANG / KAOHSIUNG (Breakfast Included) Proceed to LUKANG via freeway. The Lukang village, located about 180 kilometers south of Taipei, is known as a center of arts and handicrafts, particularly wooden and bamboo items. In earlier years, the city was the site of magnificent homes and temples of uniquely Taiwanese architecture. Some of these structures still exist today. Then move on to Kaohsiung City by bus or train for overnight stay. Hotel: Holiday Garden (4*) or similar Day 5 KAOHSIUNG / KENTING / KAOHSIUNG (Breakfast Included) Morning tour to Kenting National Park, which located at Taiwan’s southern tip and the 37 miles of coral-rimmed shoreline along three sides of the park provide its main attractions. Stop will be made at Oluanpi light house, Maopitou coast scenic area and Kenting forest recreation area. Return to Kaohsiung City for overnight. Hotel: Holiday Garden (4*) or similar Day 6 KAOHSIUNG CITY TOUR / TAIPEI (Breakfast Included) After breakfast, we will visit the second largest city in Taiwan, “Kaohsiung City”. First, we will take you to Cheng Ching Lake, the Cheng Ching Lake has a lot of tourist attractions and is the largest lake in Kaohsiung County. A major attraction at the lake is the stately Restoration Pagoda. The lake also has islands and bridges, towers and pavilions, boating and aquariums, tree-lined paths, a nine-corner bridge. Then we will proceed to visit another famous place “Spring & Autumn Pavilions”, from here you can find the seven-tiered Dragon and Tiger pagodas stand in the water of Lotus Lake at Tzuoying near the graceful Spring and Autumn pavilions. A nine-cornered bridge links the pagodas to the shore. After the city tour, entrain or enbus back to Taipei. Hotel: Golden China Hotel (3*) or similar Day 7 TAIPEI / TAROKO GORGE / TAIPEI (Breakfast Included) Today, we will take airplane from Taipei to Hualien, whole day visit to Taroko National Park. Taroko Gorge is an exceptionally beautiful, narrow raving created by a river which has cut deep into the mountains of solid marble. A road carved into sheer walls of rock snakes its way past forested peaks and cliffs towering thousands of feet above it, while hundreds of feet below a river roars past gigantic marble boulders. Stops will be made at Evergreen Shrine, Swallow Grotto, Nine Turns of Tunnel, Marble Bridge, Tienshiang and Marble factory. On return trip to Hualien City, you will see Chi Hsing beach and Hualien Stone Sculptural Park. Then, proceed to Hualien Railway Station to have a train ride back to Taipei. Arrival time to Taipei will be around 7PM.
